Amelia Earhart (1897-1937)

"She took her first flights at the age of 23, took flying lessons, saved up to buy a small plane and entered aerobatic competitions.
In 1928, a couple of patrons offerd her the opportunity to become the first woman to fly across the Atlantic. The controls were entrusted to two men and she was only a passenger. A incon was born. But her passive role left her with a bitter taste.
In May 1932, she flex from Canada to Ireland in less than fifteen hours. At 34, she was at the height of her fame.
She founded an association of female pilots and called on the President of the United-States to address women's rights.
At 38, she wants to travel around the globe heading east and staying at the equator : 47,000 km in one month.
She disappeared with her mechanic and navigator over the Pacific Ocean."
